Patrick Mahomes got roughed up by a player on the Indianapolis Colts’ squad during the Kansas City Chiefs game, and here’s the result.

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs played a critical game against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 12, and it boosted their chances in the AFC playoff picture.

Even though the Chiefs were down 20-9 in the fourth quarter of the game, Mahomes and the Chiefs pulled off an incredible comeback and closed out the game with a 23-20 win. That win pushed Kansas City to 6-5 for the season, but the team fell to the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, dropping that record to 6-6 for the year.

But, the Colts win still means something. Without it, the Kansas City Chiefs wouldn’t be in the playoff picture at all. Heading into Week 14, the Chiefs are No. 3 in the AFC West, but there’s still a chance for them to recover. On the Colts side, one player on Indianapolis’ squad is was faced with a judgement from the NFL on Saturday, November 29, resulting from the team’s loss to Kansas City.

NFL Negates Patrick Mahomes and Laiatu Latu Incident

Colts defensive end Laiatu Latu started off his game against Mahomes with an interception pass. But, Latu’s activates went sour from there. Towards the end of the first half, referees flagged Latu for roughing the passer on Mahomes. The play happened with 32 second left in the half.

Even though Latu and the Colts were penalized during the game, the NFL regularly hands out punishments for roughing the passer incidents after the game has wrapped up.

Every week during the season, the NFL announces penalizes for players based on the previous week’s games. The NFL notes on their website that these actions are “to protect players from unnecessary risk and preserve competitive balance and game integrity.”

Now, the NFL has officially released its Week 12 report, and the league has made the decision not to give Latu any additional punishment. All fines that the NFL hands down are at the discretion of the league.

Also, no Kansas City Chiefs or Indianapolis Colts players were fined from the NFL for their actions during the Week 12 game, so it was a clean game. For NFL players that were punished, according to the league, the funds go to the Professional Athletes Foundation and NFL Foundation.

Patrick Mahomes Talks the Kansas City Chiefs’ Future

After the Kansas City Chiefs fell to the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day, Mahomes made it clear that he still believes in this team.

“We’ve got all the same guys, and we added players,” he said. “But at the end of the day, you’ve got to go out and do it every single week, on a week-in, week-out basis.”

Mahomes added, “We can beat anybody, but we’ve shown that we can lose to anybody. So, we’ve got to be more consistent. It starts with me being consistent throughout the entire game, not in just big moments. That’s something that we have to do throughout an entire game and week-to-week. It’s not just one time.”

The Kansas City Chiefs have found themselves in a strange position for such a winning team, but if anyone can pull them out of this hole, it’s Mahomes.
