The White Sox could find themselves in a spot to add a solid free agent or two, as they had some solid momentum in the second half of the year. However, they are likely not throwing their hat into the ring for the bigger free agents that would require long term commitment of 30 million plus a year.
While there have been some conflicting statements from Chris Getz on what the White Sox will end up doing this offseason, it is likely they will add a few quality players, as it would kill the second half momentum if they rolled the exact same team out there.
One player the White Sox should, and may be sniffing around, is recently non-tendered outfielder Adolis Garcia from the Texas Rangers. Garcia would be the power hitting corner outfielder that has eluded them for years. Additionally, manager Will Venable overlapped in Texas with Garcia, as he was the bench coach for the Rangers for a few years while Garcia was on the team.
Garcia had a bit of a down year in 2025, but he still had a very solid year overall. Garcia has also put together a very good major league career, as he has been selected to two all-star teams. Last year, Garcia hit .227 with 19 home runs and 75 RBIs. He also added 13 stolen bases, which helped contribute to his 2.7 WAR according to Baseball Reference.
Garcia’s 19 home runs would have ranked 4th on the team and his 75 RBIs would have tied him for first on the team with Lenyn Sosa. Garcia’s 13 stolen bases would have ranked him third on the team, just behind Luis Robert Jr. and Chase Meidroth.
While Garcia’s 2025 season would have been one of the best on the White Sox, he was coming off a weak 2024 season in which he hit .224 with 25 home runs and 85 RBIs, contributing to just a .3 WAR. While those stats would have been among the best on the White Sox, the Rangers must not have been the fan of his last two seasons, as he had two all-star appearances between 2021-2023 and 12 WAR over that stretch.
Adolis Garcia
• 19 home runs last year
• 92nd percentile in arm strength
• 72nd percentile in outs above average
• Overlapped with Will Venable in TexasI really think he is a good option for right field.pic.twitter.com/K5bsq1xoZb

On top of being a very solid power hitter, Garcia is very good in the field. According to Baseball Savant, he ranks in the 67th percentile in Fielding Run Value, while sitting in the 72nd percentile in outs above average. This is well above the league average and he would also be an asset in the outfield.
With the White Sox non-tendering Mike Tauchman, there is a spot open in right field for everyday at-bats. Garcia would fill that spot and more, as even if he plays like has over the last two years, that would be a significant upgrade to the White Sox lineup. If they can get him on shorter term, higher value deal, this could be a steal for the White Sox.
