The Kansas City Chiefs’ chances of making the NFL playoffs shifted after their overtime victory against the Indianapolis Colts, according to prediction market platform Kalshi
The Kansas City Chiefs’ dramatic overtime win against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 12 gave a significant boost to their chances of making the NFL playoffs.
Although the Chiefs currently sit as the No. 10 seed in the AFC playoff picture, Kansas City has a 70 percent chance of reaching the playoffs, according to Kalshi.
Kalshi is a prediction market platform whose percentages reflect the collective beliefs of traders about the probability of a given event. In this case, traders expect the Chiefs to finish among the top seven seeds in the AFC and avoid missing the postseason for the first time in Patrick Mahomes’ career.

The day before Sunday’s win against the Colts, Kansas City was given as low as a 55 percent chance to reach the postseason.
After starting 0-2, they were at 39 percent, the low point of the season prior to the lead-up to Week 12.
The Chiefs’ percentage is greater than that of the Houston Texans (38 percent), Pittsburgh Steelers (24 percent), Jacksonville Jaguars (69 percent), and Los Angeles Chargers (50 percent), all of whom are ahead of Kansas City in the current AFC playoff picture.
Andy Reid’s team avoided dropping to 5-6 by coming back from a 20-9 deficit in the fourth quarter against Indianapolis, who dropped to 8-3 with the defeat.
The Chiefs held the Colts to four straight three-and-out possessions in the fourth quarter and overtime, while using a Kareem Hunt rushing touchdown, two-point conversion, and two Harrison Butker field goals to erase the 11-point deficit.
The victory marked the first of the season in a one-score game for the Chiefs, an area they thrived in last season when they jumped out to a 9-0 record despite not playing their best football. Prior to Sunday, they were 0-5 in one-score games this season.
Kansas City still faces a difficult schedule ahead, including three teams ahead of them in the AFC playoff picture, and has little room for error.
