Vikes Views: Who Ya Got? Vikings at Packers

The Minnesota Vikings will be on the road to take on the Green Bay Packers. The unfrozen tundra will host the 130th meeting between the two teams. The Vikings are looking to continue their two-game win streak against a banged-up Packers team. The Packers’ form has not been great, with losses to the Panthers and Eagles and a close win against Jameis Winston and the New York Giants. This game kicks off three straight divisional games for the Packers. Five of their last seven games will be against NFC North opponents. The Vikings have lost two straight after a big win against the Detroit Lions three weeks ago.

Series Record: 60-66-3

Road Record: 28-35-3

Streak: W2

  • The Vikings won both games last year by two points. It was the first time in series history that consecutive games were decided by fewer than three points.

  • Packer killer Jordan Addison was the sixth WR in team history to score both a rushing and receiving touchdown in the same game during last year’s meeting in Green Bay—the first player to do so since Adam Thielen in Week 3 of 2019.

If both teams were healthy, the Packers would likely be the easy choice. However, they are coming in beat up. The Packers’ offense has sputtered over the last few weeks. The Vikings’ defense is not a good squad to try to “get right” against. That would normally skew expectations back the other way. It’s all going to depend on J.J. McCarthy and his chemistry with the offense. Two weeks ago, the false starts were “cadence”-related. Last week, everyone had hands like Troy Williamson, and McCarthy was making his best Christian Ponder impersonation. The offense is a mess in Minnesota. The coach is talking about the cement drying on the work he’s laid down. The quarterback is talking about re-learning the position—and it’s Week 12. If the team is talking like it’s the offseason, I can’t see them winning. The Vikings keep it close because the defense is great.

Prediction: Vikings 17 – Packers 20
