Dodgers projected to win $427 million free agency sweepstakes for superstar

The Chicago Cubs took a big risk by trading for Kyle Tucker last offseason. They had never given out a contract worth over $200 million in free agency, while Tucker is projected to sign for $427 million this winter, per Jim Bowden of The Athletic.

As a result, it seems like Tucker is going to sign a new deal with a new team. The top suitors are likely the large markets like the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees and Toronto Blue Jays. There are bound to be other suitors, too.

Bleacher Report’s Erik Beaston recently predicted Tucker would bolt from Chicago and sign a huge deal with the Dodgers.

Dodgers projected to win $427 million free agency sweepstakes for superstar

“The outfielder is fresh off his first season in Chicago, in which he hit 22 home runs, drove in 73 runs, and stole 25 bases, all while missing 26 games due to a calf injury,” Beaston wrote. “His mix of power and speed at the plate, coupled with his superb defensive play in the outfield, make him arguably the most complete player available. The Yankees and Dodgers are intriguing because they are already World Series contenders and Tucker would only further enhance their odds of winning a championship.”

Tucker signing with the Dodgers would be a nightmare scenario for the rest of the league, but it’s exactly the kind of move the Dodgers could make.

They have the money to sign him to a mega-contract. The Dodgers also need to add an outfielder after Michael Conforto’s disastrous season in Los Angeles. Adding Tucker would be a dream come true for the defending World Series champions.

In the frosty chill of a Boston November, the air at Fenway Park feels thicker with anticipation than usual. The 2025 season has barely faded from memory—a gritty 87-win campaign that saw the Red Sox flirt with the playoffs but ultimately bow out in a heartbreaking ALDS loss to the Yankees. Trading Rafael Devers midseason to the Giants freed up a war chest of payroll space, estimated at over $250 million, and now whispers from the front office suggest chief baseball officer Craig Breslow is ready to swing for the fences. At the center of it all: a potential lifeline to third baseman Alex Bregman and a blockbuster pursuit of a megabucks free agent, moves that could redefine the AL East and send shockwaves through a league still buzzing from the Dodgers’ World Series triumph.
