The Green Bay Packers have an injury concern with running back Josh Jacobs heading into the Week 12 game against the Minnesota Vikings.

Jacobs sustained a knee injury in the Week 11 win over the New York Giants that led to him leaving the game early.

The belief is that Jacobs has avoided a serious injury, but that doesn’t guarantee he will be ready to roll by Sunday.

Here’s what we know about his chances of suiting up, and we’ll follow that with some fantasy football handcuff advice in the event that Jacobs doesn’t play.

Will Josh Jacobs play in Week 12?

WEDNESDAY UPDATE: Head coach Matt LaFleur stated that Jacobs will not be at practice on Wednesday and he is still considered day to day.

“The plan is to get him healthy enough to go … he is truly day to day,” LaFleur said.

It’s not at all surprising to see Jacobs sitting out the first day of practice, as that’s a fairly regular thing when he is dealing with any kind of injury.

The next two days will tell the story, so we wouldn’t get worried about his Week 12 status just yet.

END OF UPDATE

It’s too early to tell if Jacobs will play, but head coach Matt LaFleur revealed on Tuesday that Jacobs is just dealing with a contusion in his knee, which is not typically a long-term issue and doesn’t rule him out from playing Sunday.

LaFleur added Jacobs could “potentially” play in Week 12.

“It’s just more or less trying to get the swelling down,” LaFleur said of Jacobs’ knee issue. “Unfortunately, that’s a pretty hard surface over there, and sometimes (that’s) the byproduct of that.”

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport added on Monday that Jacobs is considered “day-to-day,” which adds more optimism to the idea that Jacobs could play, although Rapoport left the door open for him to sit, also.

We should get our next update on Wednesday, when the Packers release their first injury report of the week. Any participation would be a great sign for Jacobs’ chances of playing.

Who is Josh Jacobs’ handcuff?

If Jacobs doesn’t play, backup running back Emmanuel Wilson will get the nod as the starter, with fellow back Chris Brooks likely to spell him.

Wilson has been the clear-cut No. 2 back for the Packers in 2025 and is second on the team in carries (53) and rushing yards (220). Wilson carried the football 11 times for 40 yards and a touchdown in Jacobs’ absence on Sunday.

He would be an RB2 play if Jacobs is sidelined.
