The Milwaukee Brewers have eight prospects participating in the Arizona Fall League (AFL) this year. Hitters consist of Brock Wilken, Juan Baez, and Luis Lara whereas pitchers are Coleman Crow, Ryan Birchard, Will Childers, Mark Manfredi, and Nick Merkel. Of this group Juan Baez is taking the AFL by storm with an OPS of 1.356.

Is Juan Baez a top ranked prospect in the Milwaukee Brewers system?

Yes, 19 year old Juan Baez is currently the Brewers 27th ranked prospect.  He was an international signee in 2022, spent the 2024 season with the Carolina Mudcats, and interestingly was an AFL All-Star a season ago.  A shoulder injury cost him significant time during the Minor League season this year, but he still compiled more hits (88) than games played (81).

Through nine games (30 at-bats), Juan Baez has managed 14 hits with five of them going for extra bases, he has driven in 10 runs, drawn six walks, and struck out just six times.  This gives him an impressive .467/.556/.800.1.356 slash line.  His 1.356 OPS is second best in the AFL.

There are still three weeks remaining in the 2024 AFL schedule, but hopefully Juan Baez can continue to do well and carry that momentum into the 2025 season.
