QB Steelers Aaron Rodgers Takes Responsibility After Loss to Chargers: “I Played Through Pain Just to Give the Steelers a Chance to Turn Things Around”
After the disappointing 25–10 loss of the Pittsburgh Steelers to the Los Angeles Chargers, Aaron Rodgers made an emotional statement in the postgame press conference, taking full responsibility for the team’s performance. Despite dealing with a serious hand injury, Rodgers admitted that he couldn’t help the team turn the game around, even though he played through pain just to give the Steelers a chance.

In an important play during the second quarter, defensive end Khalil Mack (Chargers) dragged Rodgers to the ground, causing his hand to hit the turf forcefully, which aggravated the injury. After the fall, Rodgers felt sharp pain in his hand, but he continued playing, refusing to give up in a crucial moment where the team needed his leadership.
“I played through pain just to give the Steelers a chance to turn it around,” Rodgers said. “My hand wasn’t right, but I couldn’t quit when the team needed me. I knew everyone was counting on me, and I gave everything I had to keep the game going, even though I wasn’t at my best. I take full responsibility for the outcome, but unfortunately, we couldn’t get the win.”
Despite the hand injury making it difficult for Rodgers to throw accurately, he continued to fight, giving his all for the team. The Steelers ultimately fell short in the 25–10 loss, but Rodgers’ determination and leadership on the field, even with his injury, stood out.
“This loss is a shock to all of us,” Rodgers said. “We prepared well, but we just couldn’t finish it. I’m going to keep fighting and do everything I can to help the team bounce back.”
Rodgers also reassured fans that the Steelers still have plenty of chances ahead, though this loss was a setback. He mentioned that the team will learn from the defeat and continue improving in the weeks to come.
Even with the injury, Rodgers showed strong leadership and resilience, which will be a major motivator for the Steelers as they move forward into the rest of the season.
