🚨 HUGE TRADE SIGNALS AT FENWAY: With Jarren Duran under club control through 2028 and a one-year deal signed for 2026, the Red Sox are believed to be lining up a major move — insiders suggest they want to cash in on the outfielder while he still holds value and pivot toward pitching upgrades. The outfield log-jam created by newcomers like Roman Anthony and Wilyer Abreu has only intensified trade talk, making Duran one of Boston’s most likely trade chips this offseason.

The Boston Red Sox have a lot of outfielders.

Something probably has to give this offseason in the form of a trade.

But who moves?

Jarren Duran and Wilyer Abreu are the two players viewed as real trade possibilities. Roman Anthony isn’t going anywhere, and Ceddanne Rafaela seems likely to stay put, too.

USA Today’s Bob Nightengale thinks the answer to the question is Duran.

“The Red Sox believe that they need an upgrade over Duran, and that he needs a fresh start,” Nightengale writes. “It would be a huge surprise if he’s in Fort Myers, Fla., come spring training.”

Duran isn’t viewed as a great defensive outfielder, but he remains an intriguing hitter.

He hits a lot of triples in addition to his home run power. His power-speed combination is tantalizing.

It’s interesting that Nightengale writes that the Red Sox want an upgrade over Duran.

It seems the most prudent move would be to trade Duran for help at a different position. The current roster construction of the Red Sox has a surplus of outfielders. They could use help in the starting rotation.

If Duran could net a strong starter in return to supplement the Red Sox on the mound, that might be the best outcome.

Just trading Duran for another outfielder would leave things quite crowded.

But it sounds like something will be brewing here, so it’s worth keeping an eye on.
