Yankees urged to sign $58 million 29 SV closer to replace Devin Williams in their ‘super bullpen’

The New York Yankees went into this year with the idea of creating a super bullpen, and by the trade deadline, they had one on paper. However, it didn’t really work out, and now they need to find a real setup man to make their bullpen super.

Fansided’s Rucker Haringey believes so as well, and urges the Yankees to go out and acquire veteran reliever Raisel Iglesias.

“Inking a veteran like Raisel Iglesias could do wonders to solidify Boone’s late-inning options. The 35-year-old veteran racked up 29 saves for the Braves as their closer last year. The Yankees should realize he doesn’t have the dominant stuff to occupy that role for a title contender, but he’s got more than enough juice to help New York get to the ninth inning with a lead,” Haringey wrote.

This past season, Iglesias posted a 3.21 ERA, 73 Ks, and a WHIP of 0.995 with 29 saves over 70 games with the Atlanta Braves. While he wasn’t an amazing closer, having a guy like him in the seventh or eighth inning would be very nice.

As for price, Iglesias just finished a four-year, $58 million deal with the Atlanta Braves. However, due to him being 36 years old next season, he’d probably get a shorter deal, either one or two years.

Hopefully, the Yankees consider this vet, as he could be the answer to their super bullpen problem.
