Among the many injured players the San Francisco 49ers have are quarterback Brock Purdy and wide receiver Ricky Pearsall.

Pearsall hasn’t appeared in a game since Week 4 due to a knee injury, while Purdy has been sidelined on two separate occasions this season due to his turf toe injury.

After missing Weeks 2 and 3, Purdy aggravated his injury in Week 4 and hasn’t taken the field for a game since.

As the 49ers prepare for their Week 10 battle against the Los Angeles Rams, is there any hope either player will be ready to return?

Here’s what we know.

Will Brock Purdy return in Week 10?

This remains up in the air, although Purdy is trending toward sitting. According to the Niners’ Wednesday injury report, Purdy was limited once again.

The Niners quarterback has been logging limited practices for weeks now and has not suited up, so he’ll likely have to turn in a full practice before he can take the field again. Until we see that, we expect Purdy to sit out.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed on Sunday that Purdy is unlikely to be 100% again this season, so this isn’t something that’s going to fully go away. Shanahan added, however, that he doesn’t believe Purdy needs surgery.

“We’re trying to ease Brock out there in the practice stuff, but anytime you’re dealing with his turf toe, it’s something that probably won’t fully go away all year regardless of when he comes back,” Shanahan said. “He’s going to always have to deal with a little bit… So it’s really about just assessing when’s the best time to come back that you have to deal with it the least. It’s a little bit of a tricky decision.”

Will Ricky Pearsall return in Week 10?

Pearsall hasn’t practiced in over a month and that continued on Wednesday, with the young wide receiver once again not taking part in practice.

That puts Pearsall on track to sit once again.

The fact that the Niners didn’t put him on injured reserve suggests Pearsall’s injury is worse than initially thought. At this point, it’s hard to know when he’ll be back.

If Purdy sits again, the Niners will hand the ball to Mac Jones for yet another start. San Francisco is 5-2 with Jones under center.

At wide receiver, the Niners will once again lean heavily on guys like Christian McCaffrey, Kendrick Bourne, Jauan Jennings and George Kittle in the passing game.
