The Green Bay Packers are reportedly at least doing their due diligence at the tight end position ahead of the trade deadline.

Doing so definitely makes sense considering the Packers just lost their star tight end, Tucker Kraft, to a season-ending torn ACL.
According to Easton Butler of Packer Report, the Packers have put in a call to inquire about Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku.
“The Packers have also called on TE David Njoku, per source,” Butler reported.
This is the second tight end the Packers have been linked to. Green Bay also reportedly put in a call for Las Vegas Raiders tight end Michael Mayer.
A former Pro Bowler, Njoku would be a strong addition for the Packers. Not only is he a plus pass-catcher, Njoku is also a good blocker.

It would make sense for the listless Browns to trade Njoku, who is one of their most attractive assets. The Browns are going nowhere this season and could use more draft capital to assist in their rebuild.
Not to mention, Njoku might leave in free agency next offseason, as he’s in the final year of his contract.
It remains to be seen what the Browns would be willing to take for Njoku, but we would assume it’ll be a Day 3 pick, at most.
For that price, the Packers would be wise to consider a trade for the 29-year-old, who could help fill the massive void left by Kraft’s injury.
