Cubs Superstar Projected To Land League-Altering 9-Year, $360 Million Deal

Kyle Tucker discusses potential future with Cubs

The Chicago Cubs landed Kyle Tucker in a blockbuster trade last winter, but now they’re at risk of losing the superstar in free agency. Tucker’s headed to the open market, and there should be a handful of the biggest market teams interested in bringing him to town.

But the most intriguing part of Tucker’s free agency is going to be the price tag he signs for. He’s expected to sign for at least $300 million, but some outlets project him to sign for over $400 million. Much like Juan Soto’s free agency sweepstakes last winter, a bidding war could send Tucker’s free agency toward an astronomical number.

NBC Sports’ Matthew Pouliot recently projected Tucker would sign a massive nine-year deal worth $360 million.

“Back-to-back seasons marred by injury won’t help Tucker’s market, but he put up the best numbers of his career during his half season in 2024 and he was off to another great start in 2025 before suffering a hand injury that was only much later revealed to be a fracture,” Pouliot wrote. “Both that and the fractured shin from 2024 seem like fluky injuries, and Tucker played 505 out of a possible 546 games the previous four years.

“Of some concern is that, in spite of his excellent basestealing ability, Tucker is slow and getting slower, leaving him with subpar range in the outfield. However, he seems like someone who would take well to first base a few years down the line.”

Tucker is expected to have teams like the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers interested. With teams like that pursuing Tucker, he could very easily sign for $400 million, but a $360 million deal would fit, too.

Tucker’s sweepstakes will be the top storyline of the offseason. His signing could change the course of the league as we know it, especially if he lands with the Dodgers.
