The San Francisco 49ers closed out their East Coast trip with a 34-24 win over the New York Giants, improving to 6-3 on the season. The offense was explosive, the defensive front made its presence felt, and special teams delivered for a complete road victory. Here are five takeaways from the Week 9 win:
McCaffrey Does it All
Christian McCaffrey showed once again that he can do it all. The dual-threat back scored two touchdowns and was explosive in both the run and pass game. He finished with 20 carries for 98 yards and a touchdown along with five receptions for 60 yards and another score, including a 39-yard catch-and-run that set up his second touchdown.
Robinson Jr. Finds the End Zone
Running back Brian Robinson Jr. made his mark in red and gold, recording his first touchdown as a member of the 49ers in the fourth quarter. He powered through the middle for an 18-yard score that extended the lead to 27-10.
Jones is Efficient
Quarterback Mac Jones had one of his most efficient performances, spreading the ball around and keeping the offense on schedule. He completed 19-of-24 passes for 235 yards and two touchdowns, including scores to McCaffrey and Jauan Jennings. Jones showed more of his poise under pressure and helped the offense convert on critical downs.
D-Line Gets to Work
The 49ers defensive front consistently collapsed the pocket, recording multiple sacks and limiting New York’s run game. Clelin Ferrell had a key sack inside the Giants 10-yard line, while Sam Okuayinonu added another sack to stall a third-quarter drive.
Piñeiro Keeps the Streak Alive
Kicker Eddy Piñeiro continued his perfect run, hitting from 54 and 33 yards to give the 49ers crucial points before and after halftime. He is now 19-of-19 on field goals this season, extending his franchise record for consecutive makes to open a season. His kicks added 10 points to the final score.
After back-to-back road games, the 49ers will play at home next for a rematch against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 10 on November 9.
