REPORT: Analyst’s Shocking Packers–Cowboys Trade Scenario Has Fans Losing Their Minds — ‘No Way This Happens!’

Now at 5-1-1 on the season, the Green Bay Packers are one of the more well-rounded teams in the NFL and are trying to break out and hit their stride. While it’s not always been pretty this year, the Packers are one of two one-loss teams in the NFL and are winners of three in a row.

NFL analyst's wild Packers-Cowboys trade idea would break the internet again

The next major event in the NFL is the 2025 trade deadline, which arrives on November 4, immediately following the Week 9 action. The Packers host the Carolina Panthers in Week 9, and it’s the start of a two-game homestand.

It’s very likely that Green Bay is 6-1-1 in a few days, and that could prompt them to pick up the phones and perhaps display more urgency in fixing a key area of their defense: the secondary. This wild trade would be Green Bay calling up an old friend, and it would truly break the internet.

Wild trade scenario would send another Cowboys’ defensive starter to the Packers

Here is Jori Epstein in Yahoo! Sports on this wild trade scenario that would send Trevon Diggs to the Packers:

“A team that should at least call: the Green Bay Packers, who may remember which number to dial after a preseason trade for Micah Parsons. Green Bay could use cornerback depth and seems to be a legitimate Super Bowl contender that would have use for a player late in December and into January if not beyond,” Epstein writes.

“Add in Diggs’ best friend, Parsons, being there, and his college position coach, Derrick Ansley, now Green Bay’s defensive passing game coordinator and defensive backs coach? The Packers may be able to maximize Diggs in ways the Cowboys no longer can.”

So, yeah, this is a lot to unpack, but when you rip it down to the studs, it might actually make some sense. As Epstein notes, there are some connections between Diggs and the Packers, and the Cowboys would surely eat some of Diggs’ salary in order to get his contract off the books.

Green Bay signed cornerback Nate Hobbs this past offseason, but he has not lived up to expectations, to say the least, and the Packers benched him last week in favor of Carrington Valentine. With no guaranteed money left on Diggs’ deal, the Packers might actually be more willing to make this bold move, and it’s not like they haven’t made a bold trade with the Cowboys before.

When healthy, which has been an issue for Diggs, he’s a top-10 CB in the NFL, and the Packers are really missing a true shutdown player at the position. With how good this team could be, it would be malpractice for them not to come away with some sort of upgrade at the position.

Would a Trevon Diggs trade make sense?
