While the defense has been solid, there is a clear issue that needs to be addressed. The Packers badly need more help in the secondary at the cornerback position.

Prior to the 2025 season, Green Bay made the tough decision to move on from former superstar Jaire Alexander. Brian Gutekunst and the front office opted not to sign or trade for a player to help replace him.
So far this season, the Packers have had a clear hole at cornerback. With the NFL trade deadline coming up next week, there has been a lot of buzz about Green Bay potentially getting aggressive to bring in more secondary help.
Keeping that in mind, a new report has shared that the Packers have shown interest in making another blockbuster trade.
According to Easton Butler of Packer Report, Green Bay has called the Cleveland Browns about star cornerback Denzel Ward. Simply placing a call doesn’t mean that the two sides are discussing a trade, but it’s an interesting report nonetheless.
Ward would be exactly the kind of No. 1 cornerback that the Packers need to target. Bringing him onboard would be an all-in move for a championship.

In eight games this season, Ward has racked up 25 tackles, an interception, and five defended passes. Last year in 16 games, he totaled 49 tackles, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, two interceptions, and 19 defended passes.
Granted, there is a very good chance that Green Bay won’t be able to get a deal done with the Browns for Ward. But, the report at least shows that the Packers are interested in the idea of swinging a big deal for cornerback help.
