The Boston Red Sox had many problems this year, and one of those was a good problem: having a logjam of stars in the outfield. However, they know they need to cut down their star depth there in order to get new stars in spots they need.
With Jarren Duran and Wilyer Abreu being the two most likely to be traded, that leaves the Sox with Roman Anthony and Ceddanne Rafaela to be starters. Fansided’s Cody Williams believes that the Sox could fill that hole with a major offseason signing of Chicago Cubs All-Star Kyle Tucker.

“Before you start jumping down my throat about adding to the Red Sox’ outfield logjam by spending potentially $400 million on Kyle Tucker in free agency, understand the context. As mentioned just a second ago, I expect that the franchise will be aggressive on the trade market for starting pitching, and that almost surely means that one or both of Jarren Duran and Wilyer Abreu will be moved this offseason. That, in turn, could free up the space for Tucker to get into the fold and be a star,” Williams wrote.
This season, Tucker was a superstar. He hit .266/.377/.464/.841 with 22 homers, 25 doubles, 4 triples, and 73 RBI in 136 games played. He would be another lefty, but his swing could do well in Fenway, and his glove could do amazing in right field.

This only works if the Sox package both Abreu and Duran, however. If one of them stays, they automatically get that spot, and then the Sox will have to look elsewhere for a slugger to fill another position.
Hopefully, the Sox figure out what their gameplan is soon. Tucker is going to be one of the hottest names on the market, and they’ll have to be lightning quick if they want a chance to get him.
