Shohei Ohtani won the award.
Francisco Lindor finished second in National League MVP voting, as Shohei Ohtani was the unanimous winner of the award. Lindor received 23 of 30 second-place votes and was ranked third by the remaining seven voters.
Lindor’s 2024 season was outstanding, as he hit .273/.344/.500 with 33 home runs and a 137 wRC+. He also stole 29 bases and played excellent defense at shortstop. Lindor was completely snubbed in the Gold Glove award running, though, as he didn’t receive a nomination despite objectively being one of the very best defenders at his position in the sport.
Since becoming a Met, Lindor has been one of the best players in baseball, and this season was his best single season in Queens. His 7.8 fWAR on the year matched his previous career high, which he posted in Cleveland back in 2018. And it was one of the best seasons by a position player in Mets history.
