A few months into the season, Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard is quickly becoming known for his infectious, run-through-a-brick-wall energy on the sidelines.

It’s that type of explosive fire that sets him apart from former DC Aaron Glenn, explains Amik Robertson.
“I think Shep is a little more passionate … He understands me a lot more and he puts high expectations on me,” the cornerback said on a new episode of the St. Brown Podcast.
Amon-Ra asked him about the differences between coaching styles as DC. Robertson said it’s clear Sheppard took quite a bit away from learning under Glenn, but the smaller age gap makes a difference. At 37 years old, Sheppard is the third-youngest defensive coordinator in the NFL.
“Sometimes we feel like our coach is our teammate,” Robertson said. “But of course you know you got to respect him at a different level.”
