The San Francisco 49ers are 5-2, despite a laundry list of injuries throughout the first two months of the regular season. Brandon Aiyuk and Ricky Pearsall have both missed time this season, with the former yet to have played a game this season due to tearing his ACL last year.

Because of this, ESPN has labeled New Orleans Saints star Chris Olave as a fit for the 49ers via trade.
“Rival teams caution that the Saints typically aren’t dealing away players — that’s not GM Mickey Loomis’ style — but New Orleans’ 1-6 record could present opportunities to acquire future assets for a team clearly in a rebuilding phase,” Jeremy Fowler writes. “Olave has moved past the concussion issues, and he had two big-play touchdowns in Week 7.”
Olave has 44 receptions in 2025 with three touchdowns. He had a shortened season in 2024 due to concussion troubles, but had 1,000 yards in each of his first two seasons. Should the Saints be willing to move the Ohio State product, the 49ers have proven to be willing to make big trades in the past. They traded several picks for Christian McCaffrey back in 2022, and it led to a Super Bowl appearance in 2023.
