After seven weeks, the Green Bay Packers (4-1-1) are the No. 1 seed in the NFC and the only team in the conference with one loss. In fact, the Packers and Indianapolis Colts (6-1) are the only two teams left in football with only one loss.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ loss to the Detroit Lions on “Monday Night Football” elevated the Packers to the No. 1 seed entering Week 8.

What does this mean? Probably not much. With 11 more weeks to go, the first seven weeks represent nothing more than a strong start for Matt LaFleur’s team. The win over the Lions to open the season was huge, and actually avoiding a loss in Dallas — and securing the tie — is important to the playoff standings at this stage. Although the Packers suffered a stunning loss in Cleveland, Green Bay hasn’t lost and is 3-0-1 overall against the conference to start the 2025 season. And while the Packers haven’t played their best football as of late, all the teams in the NFC have stumbled at times through the first seven weeks. Surviving this time of year is the name of the game.
The Packers also lead the highly competitive NFC North, a division the franchise hasn’t won since the 2021 season. All four teams are currently .500 or better, and three of the four teams won in Week 7.
The No. 1 seed in each conference gets the hugely valuable first-round bye in the playoffs.
