STRIDE SHOCK: Cowboys Coach Claims Team ‘Finding Our Groove’, Fans Lose Their Minds After Commanders Rout, Playoff Fever Hits Fever Pitch..ll

Commanders vs. Cowboys: One of the NFL's Most Intense Rivalries Takes Center Stage in Week 12 | Titansports

The Dallas Cowboys, after an up-and-down first six weeks, finally played their most complete game of football in the 44-22 win over the Washington Commanders at AT&T Stadium.

Dak Prescott and the offense were their usual prolific selves, but it was the defense, which had four sacks, a fumble recovery and a DaRon Bland pick-six that pulled their weight in a game finally.

With the win, the Cowboys move to 3-3-1 with a trip to face the Denver Broncos up next, Brian Schottenheimer’s team has a chance to build on the win and get some positive momentum building.

But what does Schottenheimer think of his team right now after the win over Washington?

“Overall, I just felt like hopefully we’re finding our stride,” Schottenheimer said. “No one cares where we are today. That doesn’t matter. What matters is where we’re going to be in January.”

Defensive standard now set for Cowboys

Now, you aren’t going to get four sacks, a pick-six, a fumble recovery every game and play the run as a good as Dallas did, but that is what the defense under Matt Eberflus has to aspire to.

We know it is in their locker now, and after a poor six weeks, it was their “best” performance of the season. Yes, no Noah Brown, Terry McLaurin or Deebo Samuel certainly helps, but I’ve stated for weeks that if this defense is just average, the Cowboys would be a playoff team.

They were above average against Washington and that form line has to continue for Eberflus’ defense because we know the offense will score nearly 30 points every week, but can the defense pull its weight enough to keep the score under that?

If they do, this Dallas team might be in business in 2025.
