CBS’ Dolphins trade rumors are bad news for Giants, Steelers, good news for 49ers, Eagles | Sporting News

The 2025 NFL season hasn’t gone well for the Miami Dolphins, as the team currently sits at 1-6 and are tied with the Tennessee Titans for the second worst record in the AFC.

With Miami being one of the worst teams in the league, the team could be major sellers at the November 4 trade deadline. The Dolphins have a few players who could net solid value on the open market, including wide receiver Jaylen Waddle.

Waddle is an electric playmaker who has tallied 405 yards and three touchdowns through seven games this season. The 26-year-old has been thrown into trade rumors due to Miami’s struggles, but based on a report from CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones, Waddle isn’t going anywhere.

According to Jones, the Dolphins are unlikely to trade Waddle. However, edge rushers Jaelan Phillips and Bradley Chubb will likely be hot commodities at the deadline.

“Jaylen Waddle being on the move has never made much sense for Miami,” Jones wrote. “That said, teams will surely call on pass-rushers Jaelan Phillips and Bradley Chubb. Chubb would be more likely to be moved this year since Phillips is playing on his $13.2 million option year.”

Phillips and Chubb should both have robust markets, as contenders are always in need of pass rushers. The San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles are two contenders who could use a boost to their pass rushes. San Francisco lost Nick Bosa for the season in Week 2 due to a torn ACL, so adding one of the Dolphins’ edge rushers would be a savvy move.

The Eagles also have a hole in their edge rusher room due to the retirement of Za’Darius Smith, so Nick Sirianni’s squad is another potential trade partner for Miami.

With Waddle likely staying put, the New York Giants and Pittsburgh Steelers will need to find other ways to address their wide receiver issues. New York wants to surround rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart with more talent, while Pittsburgh has long been rumored to trade for a receiver to pair with DK Metcalf and help out quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
