Chiefs President Sets the Record Straight on Travis Kelce-Taylor Swift Relationship

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce and pop star Taylor Swift have been dating for over a year, and there’s still a small contingency of fans who doubt the legitimacy of their relationship. There were rumors circulating in early October the two had a breakup contract in place, and they couple didn’t help themselves when Swift missed two of Kelce’s games after attending the Chiefs first two games of the season.

However, any breakup speculation was quickly debunked by Kelce’s representatives, and he even further poured cold water on any conjecture the two were in a sham relationship on his “New Heights” podcast with “Grotesquerie” co-star Niecy Nash at the end of October when he said “You know it’s real, and you know that me and Tay are absolutely happy.” One prominent person who needs no convincing about the legitimacy of Kelce and Swift’s relationship is Chiefs president Mark Donovan, who recently said during an appearance on “Squawk Box” the two aren’t together as part of a PR stunt.

“I’d love to say that it was a marketing strategy, but it is an authentic relationship, and we’re happy to have it,” Donovan said. “It’s been nothing but good for us. I think the best thing I can say about the whole relationship and the impact it’s had on us is: Taylor Swift is an authentic member of the Kansas City Chiefs kingdom. She is an authentic fan, and that matters to our fans and our fanbase, and it matters to us and we try to respect tha

To Donovan’s point, Swift has been fully embraced by the Chiefs fan base, and her appearances at Arrowhead Stadium generate plenty of buzz for the team and the NFL, which is why she gets plenty of air time during the television broadcasts. In addition to the extra attention Swift brings to the team, the Chiefs have also benefitted from an excellent win-loss record when Swift is in attendance. Kansas City is 18-3 in games when Swift is in the crowd.
