If you listened to every coach you’ve ever had in your life, you know the definition of insanity. “Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.” The Chicago Bulls for the last five or so years have been the perfect encapsulation of this in the NBA universe. There might be no team in the league who needs a rebuild more than the Bulls, and yet there is no owner who is more resistant to that than Jerry Reinsdorf.
You see, Jerry Reinsdorf might be the most hated man in Chicago, and that’s saying something. He, for many years, has owned both the Bulls and the Chicago White Sox, although it appears he’s selling at least part of the White Sox. The Bulls haven’t been serious contenders since the Derrick Rose days, and the White Sox were last seen setting the record for most losses in a season in 2024. This is a guy who has run two professional teams with championship history into the absolute ground. With that in mind, let’s preview the Bulls, shall we?
Chicago Bulls: Over/Under 33.5 wins (+104/-128)
Additions: Noa Essengue (12th pick), Isaac Okoro
Losses: Lonzo Ball (Cleveland)
Chicago desperately needs a reload. They’ve got some interesting young players who they can build around. But what purpose is Nikola Vucevic serving on this roster? It’s just stunning to me that they continue to trot out a group that is destined for 35-40 wins. With that being said, if they do decide to sell off a guy like Vuc, or even a young player like Coby White, it sets up an opportunity for Matas Buzelis, Essengue and others. The sky could be brighter for Bulls fans once that sell off happens, but until then it’s business as usual at the United Center.
