The Philadelphia Phillies had a brutal playoff exit in the NLDS to the Los Angeles Dodgers, and now they have to look towards this offseason to see what to upgrade.
Fansided’s Wynston Wilcox believes that they will go after more pitching, as at the moment, the only elite pitcher they have is Cristopher Sanchez. Wilcox predicts that the Phillies will be a top landing spot for AL Cy Young and Triple Crown winner Tarik Skubal.

“Philadelphia’s season ended a lot earlier than they expected it to, and now they have to figure out how long their championship window is going to last. I don’t know if Skubal directly extends their window, but it gives one of the hottest offenses around some insurance with an ace like Skubal holding down the starting rotation,” Wilcox wrote.
This season, Skubal finished posting a 2.21 ERA, a record of 13-6, 241 strikeouts, and a WHIP of 0.841 over 195 innings pitched. Combine that with Sanchez, who is already an All-Star-level ace, and the Phillies could have one of the most feared 1-2 punches in the National League.

The only problem with this is that the Phillies will probably be more focused on retaining Kyle Schwarber this offseason, allowing for other suitors to probe the Detroit Tigers about trade offers for Skubal.
Hopefully, the Phillies can do both and put themselves in the driver’s seat for the NL.
