49ers flirting with disaster on Week 6 injury report

The San Francisco 49ers had some good news on their Week 6 injury report, but it still highlights a slew of problems on the health front as they enter a Week 6 showdown vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Quarterback Brock Purdy and wide receiver Ricky Pearsall are both officially out, which was the expected outcome as they continue working through injuries. Purdy has been out since aggravating his toe injury in Week 4. Pearsall got hurt in the same game.

The good news comes with quarterback Mac Jones and wide receiver Jauan Jennings, who are both listed as questionable. Jones was a limited participant throughout the week while Jennings missed Wednesday’s session before limited workouts Thursday and Friday.

One notable piece of the 49ers’ injury report is that defensive end Robert Beal was not listed as a participant in Friday’s practice, nor with a designation for Sunday’s game. That typically means the player is headed to IR. The 49ers may just be waiting until their Saturday roster moves to make that announcement. With safety Malik Mustapha returning from his knee injury the team may move Beal to IR to clear a roster spot for him.
