Kevin Durant was acquired by the Houston Rockets in the offseason.
The Dallas Cowboys will have a tough game two Sundays from now against a very good Washington Commanders team. The Commanders have dealt with some injuries throughout the year, but currently sit in second place in a strong NFC East and are 3-2. With the hope that the Commanders will play the type of football they should with Jayden Daniels on the field, things should be on the rise for them moving forward.
On the other hand, the Cowboys deserve a bit more credit than they’ve been given so far this year. At times, the Cowboys haven’t looked great, but they’ve had some impressive wins. While the Cowboys certainly aren’t the best team in the NFL, some believe they deserve more credit than they’ve been given, including NBA star and current Houston Rockets forward Kevin Durant.
“I hate to say this because they’re our rivals, and I don’t like them at all, but the Cowboys are a team that is better than their record,” Durant said on the “Up & Adams Show.” “I think they’re better than what they have shown. Some of the outcomes. Ties, they’re supposed to win that game. Losing to the Bears. I just think they’re better than what they have shown.”
“I respect Jerry Jones and the talent they get in there; I respect how Dak has improved and where he has come from at Mississippi State to what he is now. CeeDee Lamb is my dog. I love those players and how they progress; I don’t like the shield but the players themselves. I see how a lot of those guys develop and I appreciate it.”
Cowboys’ Dak Prescott Is Playing at a Top Level
Durant is correct in some of his thinking, considering the Dallas Cowboys have played well for certain parts of the year. Outside of a disappointing loss against the Chicago Bears, a team that’s improved from prior years, the Cowboys have been very competitive. They lost to the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles by four points, tied with the Green Bay Packers, and quarterback Dak Prescott is looking better than ever.
Is Jerry Jones Holding the Cowboys Back?
“I like Dak. I think he’s better than people give him credit for. But I think injuries have plagued him. I have no issues with him. I think Jerry Jones will always hold them back for some reason. As much as he wants to win, I just don’t know why he does some of the things he does. I’m going to call them pretenders,” he said on “Channel Seven.”
It’s tough to argue that Jones holds the team back at times, given what everybody just saw with the Micah Parsons trade, but ultimately, it’s on the players to go out there and do the job. The Cowboys have a good enough roster to compete, especially if the defense can play up to a certain standard.
