The start of cornerback Nate Hobbs’ tenure with the Green Bay Packers hasn’t been good.

After battling an injury during the offseason and missing Week 1, Hobbs, who inked a $48 million deal in free agency with Green Bay, has struggled.

According to Pro Football Focus, Hobbs has only allowed receptions on 50% of the passes thrown his way this season, but he also allowed two touchdowns in Week 4 and his passer rating against is a robust 109.2.

After just four weeks, Sports Illustrated’s Gilberto Manzano calls Hobbs one of the worst free-agent signings in the NFL right now.

“Hobbs has struggled in coverage during his first season in Green Bay. He has been picked on by opposing quarterbacks, especially by Dak Prescott in the 40–40 tie against the Cowboys. Perhaps he plays better coming out of the bye week,” he explained.

While we wouldn’t say Hobbs has been totally awful, he certainly hasn’t been worth the sizeable contract he received from the Packers in free agency.

The good news is, there is still plenty of time to turn things around. The Packers are coming out of the bye in Week 6, so hopefully Hobbs and the Packers took that time to make some adjustments and he’ll start to play better.

If he doesn’t recover the rest of the way, the Packers do have an out in his contract in 2026 that would allow them to release Hobbs with a post-June 1 designation that will incur a dead-cap hit of $4 million and a savings of $9 million.
