Perfect Chiefs Trade Target Sounds Like He’s Begging to Be Saved by Kansas City

Despite capturing two straight wins, the Kansas City Chiefs still have a major problem they need to fix. Their run game has been one of their biggest weaknesses, as both running backs, Isiah Pacheco and Kareem Hunt, have been horrendous. The two have combined for 282 rushing yards, averaging 3.6 yards per carry, and have been unable to create explosive runs.

Through four games, the Chiefs rank 19th in rushing yards per game (110.5) and are tied 18th for yards per carry (4.3). Their run game has been so horrific that Patrick Mahomes leads the team in rushing yards (130). The Chiefs desperately need to make a move for a running back, and luckily for them, New York Jets running back Breece Hall is practically begging for the Chiefs to save him.

Following New York’s lopsided loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, Hall expressed his disappointment with the team’s 0-5 record. “I’m in my fourth year and I don’t have a lot of time left to prove what I want to do,” the RB stated, via SNY.

With the Jets heading towards another losing season, they’re likely to be sellers at the deadline. It always takes two to tango when it comes to trade negotiations, but the Chiefs should do whatever it takes to land the four-year veteran to restore balance to the offense.

Chiefs Must Attempt to Acquire Jets RB Breece Hall Before Deadline

Hall’s career is being wasted as a member of the Jets. Since being selected by New York in the second round of the 2022 draft, the franchise has been a disaster, and as a result, has been unable to field a competitive team. The Jets have a record of 19-37 during Hall’s tenure and have gone through three different head coaches.

Despite this, Hall has been one of the few bright spots for New York, recording 2,684 rushing yards, 169 receptions for 1,442 yards, and combining for 22 touchdowns in 45 games. His dynamic skillset as a three-down back continues to be utilized this season, as he’s recorded 351 rushing yards and 17 receptions for 150 yards through five games.

While Hall has put up solid individual statistics again this year, the Jets are still struggling mightily as a team, and Hall clearly has had enough of losing. His response in the post-game press conference feels like a call for help, and the Chiefs need to give up whatever it takes to free Hall from the Jets.

Since Rashee Rice has been suspended, the Chiefs haven’t had a dynamic playmaker the offense can rely on when a big play is needed. Welcoming Xavier Worthy back to the lineup has been great, but he is still growing into the player Kansas City believes he can be at this stage of his career. The fact is, Kansas City has few playmakers Mahomes can rely on. A struggling rushing attack has only made things more difficult for Mahomes and the passing game.

The Chiefs desperately need an influx of talent on offense, as that unit hasn’t been the same as in years past. They’re tied 14th for points per game (24.3) and have failed to combine for 400 total yards of offense through four games.

Trading for Hall would provide Kansas City with a dynamic three-down back who can line up in the backfield and at wide receiver. Hall’s skillset is rare, and his full potential hasn’t been unleashed as a member of the Jets. The former Iowa State standout would thrive under head coach Andy Reid, while Mahomes would have another weapon at his disposal.

While the Chiefs will have to give up future draft capital in any potential deal for Hall, they likely won’t have to give up too much, considering Hall is in the final year of his rookie contract. A third and fifth-round pick should be enough to acquire the running back, giving the Jets valuable draft capital to start their rebuild.

Unless the asking price is a first-round pick, which would seem like a wild request for New York to make given his contract situation, the Chiefs should jump on the opportunity to acquire Hall.
