There is a new concern with Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy ahead of the Week 5 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday night.
According to the team, Worthy has been added to the injury report due to shoulder and ankle issues and is now questionable for the Week 5 contest.
“Xavier Worthy (shoulder/ankle) is now questionable for Monday Night’s game,” the team announced on Sunday evening.
Worthy was listed on the injury report this week with shoulder and ankle issues, but he logged full practices this week and didn’t have a designation on the team’s final injury report on Saturday.
We know Worthy is dealing with a shoulder injury he suffered in Week 1 following a collision with tight end Travis Kelce, but the ankle issue is something new. It isn’t clear if it’s both issues or just one that has put Worthy’s status up in the air.
Worthy is playing through a fully torn labrum and will be doing so for the rest of the season, so his risk of injury will be high from here on out.
If Worthy can’t suit up, the Chiefs will be relying heavily on Marquise Brown and Tyquan Thornton, as they did when Worthy missed multiple games.
Kansas City is set to get a reinforcement in Week 7, though, as Rashee Rice will be eligible to return from his six-game suspension then.
The Chiefs will release their inactives an hour and a half before the 8:15 p.m. ET kickoff on Monday night, but chances are we’ll get an update from one of the NFL insiders before then.
