The Cubs had a few too many pitchers and will have to regroup.

“It’s not like ‘Couns’ has exotic blitz packages or has a good play-action pass game or anything like that that’s going to make it difficult on us. I have a lot of respect for him. He’s great at what he does. But we’re not going to worry about the two-high safety look from Couns.” — Christian Yelich.

Michael Busch got the Cubs off to an early start with his 34th home run of the year [VIDEO], nut Nico Hoerner’s rare error opened the floodgates and Michael Soroka had to be summoned with the Brewers up 4-1. It didn’t get better. 6-1 after the first. 9-1 by the time Ian Happ added a second homer and run [VIDEO], which chased Peralta. Aaron Civale had been in for a while by then. He did a great job quieting things down. Nico Hoerner capped things off with a solo homer [VIDEO].

Ben Brown got some time in, too.
