A community member in Mexicali heard that a dog had been hit by a car and left for dead. She immediately drove out to find him, hoping she could help. It was clear he was severely injured, and the costs would be far too high for her to cover alone. Thankfully, she reached out to Amazing Strays, who agreed to take him into their care.
Asher was immediately taken to the vet to determine the extent of his injuries. X-rays revealed that his pelvis is shattered. He also had rocks in his stomach, a heartbreaking sign that he was starving and eating anything he could find to survive. The severity of the fracture has partially blocked his rectum, making it painful and challenging for him to go to the bathroom. For now, he is being given stool softeners and pain medication to keep him comfortable until surgery.
Before his operation, Asher will undergo a CT scan so his surgeon can carefully prepare for a full reconstruction of his pelvis and an FHO procedure.
Amazing Strays has shared that Asher is a sweet and gentle young pup who is clearly a fighter.
