Byron Buxton had one of his healthiest MLB seasons in 2025, and he got to remind all of baseball just how special he is.

But even while playing 126 games, there’s something the Minnesota Twins’ superstar never did.

Buxton grounded into exactly zero double plays.

That came in 542 plate appearances, many of which presented guys on base in front of Buxton. But no GIDPs at all.

Of players in MLB history with 500 plate appearances in a season, Buxton is only the ninth one to not ground into a single double play, according to Danny Vietti of CBS Sports.

It was just one piece of a special season for the 31-year old Buxton.

He ended the season batting .264 as he played the most games he has since 2017.

Buxton blasted a career-high 35 home runs and drove in a career-best 83 runs.

Buxton was an immaculate 24-for-24 on stolen bases.

Buxton’s .878 OPS was his best since 2021.

His career will never be quite what was hoped for. Injuries took away way too much of his time on the diamond.

But it was cool to watch this season as Buxton did incredible things, just like we always believed him capable of doing.
