Braves outright Jarred Kelenic, Luke Williams, three others to Triple-A

The Atlanta Braves began their off-season roster churn today with the announcement that five players have been outrighted to Triple-A. With 10 players on the 60-day IL when the season ended, the organization will have to make additional moves to open up spots on the 40-man roster.

The most notable name on this list is outfielder Jarred Kelenic, who spent most of the 2024 season as the Braves’ starting left fielder. He struggled mightily with Atlanta early this season and then spent most of the year in Triple-A where the former top 10 prospect’s struggles continued.

Luke Williams spend most of the year with Atlanta as the team’s 26th man, serving primarily as a pinch-runner, defensive replacement and an effective position-player pitcher. He joined Atlanta in 2023 and appeared in the big leagues with the team in each season. He posted a 0 wRC+ last season.

Sandy Leon made a couple of cameos with the Braves after spending 2024 at Triple-A. The long-time big league back-up catcher is well-regarded by the organization and did homer in his limited time with Atlanta.

Right-handed pitchers Alexis Diaz and Dane Dunning both joined Atlanta as waiver claims. Diaz had success as a closer earlier in his career and Dunning has started more than 100 games since debuting in 2020. Both struggled in limited appearances with Atlanta.

All five players were passed through waivers unclaimed prior to being assigned to Gwinnett.
