Alonso is 30 years old and people are wondering what his next move will be. Some Mets fans want to see him back with the team in 2026 and beyond. The question is, will the team actually bring him back? There have been questions about his fielding despite the production he has given the Mets at the plate.

MLB Analyst Thinks that Pete Alonso Signing with the New York Yankees This Offseason is a Real Possibility

Dan Plesac of MLB Network was talking about what the next move for Alonso could potentially be. He thinks that there is a chance that he could leave the Mets and head crosstown to the New York Yankees. Plesac said,

“Pete Alonso would look good in a Yankee uniform playing first base, hitting 35 [home runs] and knocking in over 100 runs.”

This would be interesting if this occurred, but the Yankees are more worried about a wild card series against the Boston Red Sox at the moment. This conversation will probably be talked about more when the offseason arrives.

In 162 games played with the Mets this season, he had a .272 batting average with 38 home runs and 126 RBIs, along with one stolen base and two caught stolen bases. His on-base percentage was .347. He has played with this franchise for the last seven seasons.

It would be a surprise if Alonso left the Mets this offseason for other teams. If he does leave Flushing, New York, it would be interesting to see if he would go to the Yankees or elsewhere. If the Mets do bring him back, they would most likely have to bring him back as a designated hitter.

They need better fielders on the team and that could be a reason why they decide not to bring him back despite his offensive production. Alonso would be a nice addition to the Yankees offense alongside Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge. However, it would make some Mets fans upset if it ever occurred.
