DUBLIN — Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Calvin Austin III went to the hospital with a potentially serious shoulder injury, but is okay. Austin sent out an update after getting injured in the game.
“Great Dub in Dublin! I’m all good Steelers Nation, appreciate the messages and concern,” Austin said on X.
Austin landed hard on his shoulder after a catch, and had his arm in a sling. Head coach Mike Tomlin said after the game he went to the hospital.
“Calvin Austin’s got a shoulder. I think he’s at the hospital being evaluated,” Tomlin said.
It is still unknown just how severe Austin’s injury is at this point, but if he has to miss a significant amount of time, it would be a big blow to the Steelers offense that has started to put the pieces together.
This could push the Steelers to make a move for a wide receiver during the bye week and get that player up to speed for future games. They next play on October 12 against the Cleveland Browns.
Austin was the Steelers’ fourth-round pick out of Memphis in the 2022 NFL Draft and had a breakout season with over 500 yards a year ago. He is now in the final year of his deal and hopes to cash in with another good season.
